FAMILY NEWS & UPDATES
Horany · Horaney · Hourani
Two years of weddings, graduations, new adventures, and a few water leaks — here is what everyone has been up to ahead of our gathering at the Y.O. Ranch Hotel in Kerrville, June 26–28, 2026.
The main new exciting news in our family is the upcoming marriage of Cory and Krystal’s daughter, our granddaughter, London. Wedding is in July to her fiancé, Joe Hudson. Also, Stephanie’s son, our grandson, Austen is recently engaged to his love, Gracen. We are so happy for both of them and love their future spouses. Jerry and I are doing well and enjoy spending time with our children and grandchildren on special occasions. Stacy and Scott are still living in Spring and still working. Their 3 children, Dylan, Joey and Jessie are all working and doing well. Stephanie and Bobby are empty nesters still living in Austin also enjoying retirement and traveling any chance they get. Their children, Austen, Avery and Kennedy are all thriving and also doing well. Cory and Krystal still live in Grandview. London is working and busy with wedding plans and Lannah is attending Texas State. Cory is very involved coaching Logan (12 yrs old) in all sports and we spend most of our weekends watching him play. Life is good for this “Sittee and Coopie”.
Hello Weaverville, North Carolina now home to Aaron & Callie Arnold the past few years. Aaron working for James Avery, Callie at UTSA. Nick, Amy, James still reside in Austin, James graduates from 8th grade to high school this fall. He has been a member of the Small Middle School Orchestra the past few years playing the cello. Ron and Diane are semi retired, chilling in the woods — Diane still growing a beautiful & bountiful garden every year & hitting the beach at Port A in the summer.
Chrissie and Bob Seligson have sold their home and are moving to a luxury apartment complex for 55 and older. It’s a new approach for us in retirement. Bob is really excited to give up headaches of homeownership. Planning a trip to Ireland and England in 2027.
Chrissie is recuperating from hip replacement on Dec 14, 2025. Looking forward to resuming daily walks! And visiting with our family!
Mickey and Polly are coming up in their 3rd year in our home on Saddlewood Blvd. in Kerrville. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and great for walking. Now that both of us are retired we have more time to enjoy leisure activities while staying busy with Church and other volunteer activities. One unexpected and somewhat painful volunteer activity was as a result of the July 4th, Kerrville area flood. We knew several people lost in the tragic event and others who lost property, etc. Although there have been many tears and heart wrenching moments since then, Kerrville is coming back strong and the response world-wide was overwhelming. May God Bless all affected and those who have stepped up fiscally and physically to help in the recovery.
With extra time on our hands trips to Austin and San Antonio to be with children and grandchildren are frequent and have a special place in our heart. We were able to attend choir performances, recitals, plays and graduations. Needless to say, we are proud Grandparents and living a full and fruitful life. We are so looking forward to seeing family at our Horany/Horaney/Hourani reunion of 2026.
Joanna Hourani & Chad Johnson have spent the last 2 years trying to keep up with their kids, Ben and Teagan.
Ben competed 3 years in a row at the State marching band competition with the Floresville High School band, and he also excelled on the school golf team. Ben also made the rank of Major in JROTC, where he is the Officer in Charge of logistics. He will start his Senior year in the fall and wants to study cybersecurity in college.
Teagan just finished her 7th grade year at Alamo Heights Junior School in San Antonio, where she knocked it out of the park in all her GT/honors classes, directed and starred in 2 theater productions, and played viola in their Chamber orchestra (the most advanced orchestra). Teagan also made All-Region orchestra, earned the highest ratings on both her solo and duet performances, earned the Sweepstakes rating in UIL with the rest of the Chamber Orchestra, and was awarded Best Performance in Festival at the 2026 Bayou City Classic music competition in Houston against middle school AND high school bands, choirs, and orchestras! Teagan is still dancing and recently completed her 9th season with the Alamo City Dance Company, where she played the role of Clara’s pesky younger brother Fritz in the 2025 production of the Nutcracker. Meanwhile, Joanna & Chad occasionally get to go to a rock concert or 2 when they’re not driving a bunch of teenagers around.
The Katrina Hourani Family has been traveling, moving, cooking, and changing careers. Eldest daughter, Nadia and her husband Prem are still living in Seattle, Washington. Nadia left her position at the University of Washington Medical Center and is a Clinic Nurse at the Swedish Heart and Vascular Medical Clinic. She works with and supports the famous heart surgeon, Dr. Peter Demopulos who is one of the Center’s Interventional Cardiologists. After being impacted by one of Meta’s many layoffs last year, Prem earned his Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification, and is currently a finalist for a Human Resources Business Partner role at The Kamehameha Schools on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.
Second daughter Misha and her husband James and family moved from Austin to Round Rock last summer. Misha decided to remain at home to take care of Julia Katrina, age 2. She has been teaching Julia to identify colors, recite her ABCs, count numbers and learn songs to sing. They go to the park to meet up with other children and Mums every Friday. James is a Keyholder with the Omega Exquisite Timepieces dealership located at the Domain where he praises the prestige of the brand. His professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills attract customers to return to purchase Omega timepieces for “their collection” of these luxury watches.
Haydara, age 15, attended Round Rock High School and was asked by her art teacher to enter her famous “Mug Man with a Swirly Mustache who survived Chernobyl” ceramic coffee mug. It was a Hit! Anthony graduated from Elementary School and will be attending Chisholm Trail Middle School in August. He will join the band to learn to play the clarinet. Haydara and Anthony enjoy learning about Lebanese cuisine and have had many opportunities to cook in the kitchen with Siti Katrina. Be sure to eat their Mamool at the Reunion!!
Son David is an Account Executive at ePay Policy, a billion dollar digital payment solutions company for insurance agencies. He won “Top Gun” for the most sales in his division in April and has represented the company at five trade shows in Florida, Oklahoma, and California since joining this $6.4 Billion Dollar company in December.
Finally, Katrina traveled last August–October to the Netherlands to be with her life-long friend Maria where they visited the International Criminal Court seated in the Hague and traveled to Delft famous for its iconic blue-and-white pottery. They traveled to Italy where they stayed with Katrina’s Italian friends Fabio and Camilla. Fabio took them to Palazzo Della, Rayione, Marostica, and Soave, a medieval walled town famous for its Scaligeri Castle. Camilla, an architect, gave them a personal tour of Venezia with its famous canals, gondolas, stunning architecture and rich art surrounding Piazza San Marco. It was a wonderful trip and hard to leave good friends!
Hi everyone. Well a lot has shifted for me this past year.
The biggest news is that I opened Kilbourn Guitar Co. back in November when I was laid off from Intel Corporation. It’s a guitar retail store in Historic Downtown Wichita Falls where we do sales, repairs, and lessons, and host live music. It’s been a wild ride getting it off the ground, equal parts exciting and exhausting, but it’s exactly the kind of thing I always hoped I’d do someday. Seeing people walk out with their first guitar, or watching a room fill up for a show, makes the long days worth it. It’s still early and there’s plenty to figure out, but the response from the community has been really encouraging. Check it out: kilbournguitars.com.
On the work front, I’ve now been Head of Architecture and Design at an AI security startup for about a year. We’re building infrastructure to keep AI systems and sensitive data secure, which draws on everything I spent my career doing in enterprise security. It’s fast-paced and the problems are genuinely interesting yet scary, and somehow I’ve managed to keep that going alongside the store, 2 bands and a solo project in my music career. Though I won’t pretend my calendar isn’t a little ridiculous these days, it’s making life more exciting and enjoyable.
Maddie (15) is now about to start driving (every driver beware) and will be a sophomore at Christ Academy this coming school year. She’s on the varsity volleyball team, an honor roll student, a math wizard and wants to be a lawyer. Guess that kind of runs in the family. She’s a wonderful, beautiful and strong, young woman. I can’t wait to see the great things she will accomplish in life.
James (11) continues to bounce off the walls. He’s an avid basketball player 3 times a week for the last 2 years practicing and training with his friends. He loves to build, learn and create. When he isn’t glued to video games he’s helping dad in the yard. Although I’m his dad, we’re still bros. We have lots of fun together. He will be attending 6th grade this coming year.
We spend as much time together as possible to make the most of life. Between my two children, guitars and work; life’s been full in the best way.
